Innocent and sweet

Even though Lu can be a royal 3-year-old pain, he's still at that really sweet and innocent stage and saying things like:

"Oh, thank you Daddy. Dats so nice."
"Oh, thank you Mommy. Dats really tasty." (when I give him something to eat)
"Mommy, you look so pretty"(when I really don't. I'm not even sure how he knows the word 'pretty'.)

He's definitely fully potty trained. We never went back to diapers after I switched to underwear. He's been going all by himself too. Unfortunately, it takes him 20 minutes to poop. He's full of shit, I guess. Of course he loves going in public restrooms too so I had to stand outside of his stall at Target for at least 15 minutes the other day. If I had known he had to poo I would've made him hold it until we got home. And speaking of holding it, he did great on the 3 hour ride to VA. No accidents. He said "I a big boy mommy, I hold my pee." Alrighty then.

Pain in the ass.

No, not Lucius. Me. I now have sciatica and it's ruining everything! I'm really looking forward to the end of this pregnancy. I went for my 35 week check-up today and the baby is head down. The doc said she's also small which is good and bad. Good in that I'd rather give birth to a small baby, but bad in that she'll probably be comfy in there for awhile and be late. It's been a long week here (I also had a cold) and we desperately need spring to come! I'm seriously considering sticking Lu back in daycare for a few hours a week just so he can run around and play with his friends. Mommy is definitely not fun to be with anymore. I can barely walk let alone run and jump and wrestle and do all of the things that little 3 year old boys want to do. I'm probably the only Mom that feels guilty about NOT putting her kid in daycare!

We haven't done too much in the past few weeks. We did make it to the Philly Zoo.
Feeding the ducks.

Brushing the goats.

Telling the goats a thing or two.

Who knows what he was telling them.

And we made a trip back to VA so that I could have a nice lunch with my friends (and Mom and sister!). I had a great time!

The food was yummy! And I'm so glad that I read perezhilton every day because it helped me rock the games.

Lucius got in lots of Jagee time. My Dad's a real pro now too. He got Lucius down for a nap two days in a row and gave him a nice bath...plus lots of playing AND getting up with him at the ungodly hour of 6:30a. You'd think he had 6 kids or something.

Lu also got in a little snuggle time with his cousin Ryan. They were watching Lu's favorite show that he can only see at Sitty and Jagee's -- Lazytown. Jagee tried to be really nice and DVR it for him; however, he accidentally DVR'd the spanish version. Lu seemed to like it even though he had no idea what was going on. "I want spanish Lazytown."

We finally got some snow!

Eating the snow.

Making a snow angel.

Painting the town red.

Or at least painting the kitchen orange.
It still needs another coat but it's getting there. The color is spiced pumpkin. We still need to get some color for the trim and change out the cabinet hardware.

Reach!

Lucius spent the morning with Daddy so that I could do some uninterrupted painting. They went to the "toy store" (aka goodwill), Big Lots, and McDonald's for lunch. What fun! As you can see in the above picture, Lu is still in underwear. He hasn't had an accident in a whole week! I was a little worried though because he didn't poo Monday-Thursday. I kept asking him where his poo was and he said he just didn't have any. Yikes. I got him apple juice on Friday and about 1/2 hour after drinking some he came running into the kitchen, arms flailing and exclaiming "I have to poop! I have to poop!". So, he finally went.

Extra, extra, read all about it!

Lu has had two days accident and "accident" free!!! He's even gone poop on the potty without me asking him repeatedly if has to go! I'm shocked. I'm thrilled. I bought him 10 new pairs of underwear today! Yes, 10. Kohl's is having a sale.

Potty

Well, it's been a week and still no poo in the potty. Lu also regressed a little yesterday too. Multiple "accidents". They weren't really accidents they were "peeing on the floor because Mommy wasn't paying full attention to me". Let's hope today goes better.

Kicking Fetus

Well, I'm huge now. This picture was taken about a week ago...and I'm already bigger. I accidentally caught a side glimpse of myself in a mirror at Kohl's. I was scared. I can only imagine what other people are thinking when they look at me.
This little girl is really starting to kick, rather painfully too. While shopping I kept having to stop and hold my belly, wincing in pain. I'm sure people thought I was in labor. I've been complaining a lot about my pelvis this time around too. Yowsers. It really feels like it's going to break in two whenever I switch positions. Two more months of this? How am I going to last?

No pants Dinzeo

In case anyone's wondering, Lucius does own pants. He just prefers to go without them. We do insist that he wears them in public and at other people's homes. For example, Lu likes to be comfortable while shopping so he usually takes his shoes and socks off when he's lounging in the shopping cart. Today while Tom and Lu were grocery shopping Lu asked Tom if he could also take his pants off. Luckily Tom said "no". Tom was getting into enough trouble with all of the old ladies wondering why a 3 year-old didn't have any socks and shoes on today ("isn't he cold?").

Sometimes it's impossible to keep Lu's pants on in public. He's pretty sneaky about slipping them off and then strutting (or riding) into a room pantsless and very proud of himself.

Here he is on Christmas Eve right before the Annual Christmas Pageant was about to begin. He shocked everyone by riding into the living room on Sitty's giraffe...without his pants.

You can imagine how surprised everyone was. You can see William waiting in the wings, ready to go "on stage" when Lucius ruins his entrance. Uncle Chris isn't sure what to think and Auntie Cindy rolling with laughter, per usual.

Jagee's Birthday Party

Lu and I made a quick trip to VA to celebrate Jagee's birthday last weekend. I haven't been able to celebrate family birthdays in years so it was nice to be able to attend.

Lu and I have begun a new tradition with every trip to VA. We stop by the Amish Market on the way (see link on the side of the blog). We always get a 1/2 dozen donuts; we each eat one on the way and save the rest for Jagee (and us). So, Lucius always arrives at the grandparents' house covered in chocolate and sprinkles...a dead give away. I also pick up a few other goodies while there. And a few days before our most recent trip Jagee made a comment on the blog about the Amish Market having fresh whoopie pies. I knew that was his roundabout way for requesting some.

So, guess what he got for his birthday...

Like grandfather, like grandson.

I have to admit that they were really good. I still prefer the donuts though.

Auntie Cindy and Uncle Rik hosted the birthday festivities. The grandkids (plus some adults) rocked out to Rock Band. I'm so jealous...I so want this video game. Well, I want a Wii in general.

The grandkids.

The delicious cake.

My big baby

Lu loves pretending to be a baby. He makes me buckle him in or put him in the crib while he says "goo goo ga ga, I baby Lucius". Great. I see some regression in the near future...

Sunday Morning Conversation

Lu: "Please listen to me. I go on potty I get special cake. Those my rules. You understand me?"

Hmmm...proof that he does listen to what I say. If only he would actually do what I ask him to do.

Poop

So, is there some magical trick to getting kids to poop in the potty as opposed to doing it in their underwear, dropping it on the floor, picking it up with toilet paper, and plopping it in the toilet? It seems so much easier to just do it in the potty. Lu would cut out a whole bunch of steps and not get poop everywhere.

Potty Training

On Monday I decided that I was sick of changing diapers so we made the switch to underwear on Tuesday. Although we've had a few several accidents I think that Lu's done amazingly well considering we just went to undies cold turkey. He made it through nap time yesterday and last night in underwear without any accidents. I fully expect to have sleep accidents at some point, but the fact that he was able to magically stay dry the first night he tried was very impressive. I ask if he wants to wear a diaper and he says "no, I want underwear". He still hasn't pooped in the potty this week. However, this morning he at least made it to the bathroom, pooped in his underwear, took his underwear off, dumped the poop in the potty, and flushed the toilet -- all by himself.

Happy New Year!

And what a year it's been. Lots of changes for us with some more on the way.

We welcomed in 2009 with a party at the Angelone's. Lu had ele-fun playing with the boys while the parents had fun waiting for the ball to drop. Yes, I did make it until 12a (1:30a to be exact) and I toasted with an itty bitty glass (more like a shot) of champagne.
No, the boys weren't up until midnight. They fell asleep around 9:30p...each in a different room...no late night gabfests anymore.

Merry Christmas!

Well, we survived Christmas and New Year's. Christmas started off with Lu and I traveling to VA on 12/19 to visit with family and friends.

He got to meet Susan's horse, Fancy, along with 30 other horses and 10 cats at her barn. He was scared of the horses ("I scared horses eat me"), but liked helping Susan give them cookies.

The barn cats were very friendly.

We had a play date with cousins, CJ and Bria. Lu loves playing with his cousins.

He helped Jagee make some Christmas cookies. Unfortunately, Jagee's famous mocha balls came out as mocha flats. He put the blame on Lu, of course.
This is his thinking face.

During the sugar cookies phase Lucius "helped" by creating a pile of sprinkles and flour for himself to eat ("Dees for me to eat").

The whole family came over on Christmas Eve (including Tom) for dinner, a pageant, and a visit from Santa. Unfortunately, Sitty got sick an hour before the festivities began. And then we brought the sickness home...

Wrestling with the cousins...always a favorite.

This is the best family pic that we got. You don't want to see the others.

Ryan got Lu's name in the gift exchange this year. He got Lu a huge tub of play-doh fun! Lu loves playing restaurant with it.

Lucius got a ton of wonderful new toys to play with. Santa even left some at our house for when we arrived back home (including a free imaginarium train table that Daddy, aka Santa's little helper, found by the side of the road...how did we do Christmas before Craigslist?).

Drinking beer; root beer, that is.

The "new" train table.

We also went to the Air & Space Museum. Tom and I enjoyed it much more than he did. I guess he's still a little young for the whole museum thing...do kids ever like museums though?

Long story short....Tom bought two tickets for Lu and him to ride the flight simulator...they waited in line...it was their turn...Lu refused to go...Tom went by himself...realized he's too old and had a bad case of motion sickness for the rest of the afternoon.
