Parade

Tom and Lu made the front page of the local paper a couple of weeks ago. They took part in a "parade" at a local fair.

Do you see them?
Hint: Lu's on Tom's shoulders.

Lucius are you? (aka Where are you Lucius?)

I just realized that I haven't posted about Lu in the last few weeks even though this is supposedly his blog. Oops. I guess the house is our new child. Anyway, Lu had a full Saturday. We went to his daycare art show.

See that beautiful artwork?

Look at that talent!

Lu also found the one mud puddle outside.

And a big tree to jump off of.

Well, it's more like fall off of. He hasn't gotten the art of jumping down.

Then we went to a birthday party in the afternoon. Lu loved drinking all of their juice boxes and playing with their toys.

Lu seems to be getting funnier by the minute. Yesterday I caught him in his room eating something. I asked him what he was eating and he gave me a wide grin and held up the salt shaker for me to see. I got closer and realized that he had taken the salt shaker from the dining room table and poured some salt onto to his pillow. Yum. What a great snack.

I also found out that when I was gone Lu tried to sneak some candy behind Daddy's back. Tom had hid the candy in a kitchen cabinet but had left out some wrapped up bouillon cubes (which look surprisingly like little candies!). Tom left the room and Lu took his chance to steal the "candy" and hide under the dining room table to eat his "special treat" (that's what he calls it). Tom found Lu sitting under the table and licking an unwrapped bouillon cube with a big ol' self-congratulatory smile on his face. Tom said he was like a deer licking a salt lick. Hmmm...I wonder why he's into salt all of the sudden. Is that a sign for something?

And finally last night at bedtime, Lu made me laugh again. Every night I read him a couple of books* and sing a couple of songs** and then kiss him goodnight. Well, last night he was extra tired so I snuck in a rendition of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" (usually I'm only allowed to sing the same 4 songs). Anyhoo, when I sing to him I also tickle his head, face, neck, and chest. After my finale and with a big grin on his face Lu said "Mommy, rainbow song again...and tickle armpit" while he raised his arm up over his head so I could tickle said armpit. What a weird child.

*Books = How do I love you?, I love you through and through, The potty book for boys, and Goodnight Moon.
**Songs = Wheels on the bus, Itsy bitsy spider, Lucius' song (aka shoe-shus song), You are my sunshine (aka sunshine song).

As you can tell the house needs some updating, but luckily it's mostly cosmetic (except for the $50,000 dream kitchen that I want someday).

The Outside

Tom went to NJ yesterday and did the house inspection. We got a list of minor things to be repaired and that's about it. So, it looks like the house is still a go.
Tom got 200 pictures this time. I'll post some, but not all!

Doesn't my car fit perfectly!

OK. So this house has an insane number of plants and trees. I have no idea how we're going to care for all of this.

SRI 2008

Well, I survived SRI 2008 (aka nerdfest 2008). I spent Wednesday through Sunday at Cornell (Ithaca, NY) attending a research institute with 15 other people. It was actually quite the good time. We spent 9a-5p in the computer lab analyzing data and then ate some great food at night. Honestly, I gained about 5 lbs. while I was there. They supplied lots of food. Ithaca is a really cute progressive hippy town smack dab in the middle of nowhere.

I did take a couple of pictures.
These are from my hotel room. A truly beautiful campus.

Taughannock Falls (those are some SRI peeps down there).

We did a wine tasting and ate dinner at Sheldrake Point Vineyard . Excellent wine. I sampled quite a few. Their 2006 Dry Riesling has won several awards. And I must say it was good for a white wine.

They really had a great mix of interesting people...social workers, pediatricians, a lawyer, psychologists, grad students etc...lots of fun. Everyone wanted to know if we could come back next year.;)

The best part was coming home and having Lu give me the biggest hug and kiss ever. "Mommy home! Look Daddy, I kiss Mommy!"
