Sidelights

Before

After

Don't see the difference??? Look below. It's hard to get a picture of it.

Okay, so it's cheap window film from Home Depot...at least we have some privacy now.

We have so much to do to this house it's not even funny. One window at a time, I guess.

Lucius and his babies

So, Lucius is having (or had) two babies. Here is after he attempted to carry both bouncy chairs downstairs (luckily I was able to help him halfway down the steps) and tucked his babies into their seats. He's saying "cheese" here.

He also had to put Pooh Bear into the swing.

"Cheese!" I guess he doesn't understand that you're supposed to smile when you're saying cheese.

P.S. So the kid doesn't wear pants. Sorry. But when you're ten months pregnant it's really not something you care too much about.

39 weeks 3 days

No news on the baby front. I haven't had any braxton-hicks, no contractions, twinges, nada, nothing. I had Lu on this day of my pregnancy with him. I've accepted the fact that I may be pregnant forever...at least that's how I feel.

The weather is still crappy here so I thought that Lu and I could do some Easter crafts this morning. As you can see, I did most of the coloring and cutting out. He did tape them to the window though. He's really good at getting me to do his projects...like coloring for him, cutting, setting up and playing a Memory game while he watches. Lu will make a good manager or delegator some day.

Oh, I did a very Mom thing yesterday. During Lu's nap I made some peanut butter blossom cookies. Let's be honest, I totally made them for myself. My sweet tooth is out of control and I already finished off all of our ice cream a couple of days ago. I was dying for some cookies. Of course, Lucius spotted them right away after his nap. I was really nice and gave him one...but honestly it was because I wanted another one too (I think I had already had 3) and I didn't want to sneak it (like I usually do). This baby is going to come out made of sugar.

37 weeks 3 days

Went to the doctor's this morning and have nothing new to report. I met another one of the ob/gyn's at the practice -- older male. He specifically brought up the fact that I don't want an epidural and that I want "alternative birthing options" or something like that (it's all written in my chart). I thought "oh no, here we go". However, he went on to say that he was schooled in New England and was really interested in natural child birth/different positions etc...and that when he came here they thought he was a little strange for trying those things. So...if a midwife isn't on call when I go into labor let's hope that I get him!

Lucius is doing well. He's really grown up in the past month.

**Lucius just called me a "paint in the butt", multiple times and for no reason. Hmmm...I didn't correct him either.

Gender Stereotypes

Lucius is such a boy it just cracks me up. He still insists on just wearing his tighty-whities around the house and he pretends to be either Sportacus or Spiderman (usually the black one) all day long. He loves to get the bad guys (usually me) and do tricks across the floor. He's also into guns now. I'm not sure how that happened (Tom). He keeps saying he wants one for his birthday (not going to happen) and that he's going to shoot me or Daddy or someone. We've had to have several conversations about how guns are dangerous and we don't shoot people with them. I'll let him shoot the "bad guys", whoever they are, but that's about it.

His new pretend play is to pretend that he's Ichabod getting his nails clipped. I guess that made a big impression on him. He has to put his socks on his hands and crawl around the floor like a cat. Then I have to call him Ichabod, wrap him in a towel, and pretend to clip his fingernails and toe nails. Interesting.

I know I'll jinx this by saying it but...he's been a REALLY good boy the past couple of months. I swear it was because of potty training. I rarely have to give time outs anymore or even raise my voice. I'm sure that will all change when the baby gets here, but I'm enjoying the good behavior for now.

The nursery

It's not completely done, but almost.

I still need a chair/glider thing for the corner, an area rug, and some art to hang over the crib...but all the hard stuff is done!

36 weeks and counting.

Soon to be 37 weeks which means I'll be full-term!

Well, I'm positive for group b strep (yet again). That means I'll have to have IV antibiotics during labor which is a real pain. Trying to labor hooked up to an IV isn't impossible, but just makes the already difficult process even more difficult. The midwife also noted on my chart that I'm attempting an unmedicated labor and delivery while possibly birthing in a standing position. Ha, we'll see what happens if I end up with an ob/gyn that favors the lay on your back feet in stirrups method. Should be interesting!
