Ocean City, NJ

We spent Monday with my sister and her family at Ocean City. It was truly a beautiful beach day! Lucius had a ball playing in the water while Alice was her fussy self up on shore. I call her Aunt Cindy because she can't stand the heat.

The guys went fishing and Lucius was the only one to catch a fish!

Connecticut Trip

My parents, the kids, and I spend a wild weekend in CT. It was a whirlwind tour of family....the typical CT visit.

We left Friday morning and drove to Aunt Rosemary's house.

Sitty and both kids conked out in the backseat.

Jagee and Lucius had to check out Aunt RoRo's river.

Sitty, Aunt Rosemary and Alice

We visited with Aunt Angela and Uncle Mel...and got lots of yummy food.

We spent Friday night at Aunt Rosemary's.

My father's childhood home.

Saturday morning we hung out with Aunt Janie (my dad's little sis), Uncle Tom, cousins Michael and Christine and her family.

We spent the afternoon at the biennial Fakourey family reunion. I ask my Mom every year how we're related to these people and I always forget! Luckily Bud (my Mom's cousin once removed???) keeps a nice family tree and we get copies at every reunion. Little Alice already made the list! He works fast. Fakourey was my great-grandmother's maiden name...if that helps at all.

Lucius loves it because they have a pool! He spent almost the entire time in the water. I'm partial to the Lebanese food....

Lu did great in the pool. Here's some video...of course he's being a pita and giving me major attitude. He thought I was trying to get him out of the pool.

My Great Uncle Sammy (right). The last of my grandmother's siblings. He's 97! I posted about his 95th birthday at the last reunion here.

Alice hung out in her pack n play

The whole gang. Lucius is on the diving board and I'm right next to him.

Chillin in the hotel after a looooonnnngggg day. We drove back to NJ Sunday morning where Cindy and her family waited for us!

I should say that the kids were excellent the whole trip. They did very well being completely off schedule, stuck in the car, eating cinnamon rolls and cereal bars etc...

Eyes

Alice's eyes have definitely changed color...but we have no idea what color they are.

I thought they were light brown but when I compare our eyes in the mirror they definitely don't look brown. Hazel? They're kind of blue around the outside with some green/brown in the middle. It also depends on what she's wearing.

Aquarium Field Trip

I chaperoned my first field trip! It was to the local aquarium. It was the first alone time I've had with Lucius since Alice was born. We had a great time!

Riding the bus! He didn't want me to take his picture...he's too cool for that nonsense.

Size

I figured out why Alice seems so ridiculously small to me. I looked up Lucius' height/weight from when he was an infant. At 4 months he was 17 lbs (compared to Alice's 12!). Basically, he was her size at 2 months.

She's my little chic pea head baby doll.

Happy Birthday to Tom!

The big 3-4.
Lucius insisted on the Backyardigans theme.

4-month check-up

Alice had her 4-month check up yesterday. The Dr. thinks she's doing well. I'm still concerned about her eating/growth but the Dr. said although she was dropping on the growth chart it wasn't a huge drop and she wasn't concerned. So, I guess I'll stop obsessing about it then! And at least her head will be catching up proportionally to the rest of her body! I didn't realize that at her 2-month check up she was 75th for height, 50th for weight and drumroll please....3rd for head! I can no longer blame my mother's smoking for my small head; it truly is genetic. Sorry Mom!

4-month stats

Height: 24.5 inches (45th)
Weight: 12 lb 10oz (17th)
Head: 38.75 cm (holding strong at 3rd!)

Oh, she also has eczema all over her chest. Poor thing...she's going to end up with my over active immune system.

We were given the go ahead to start some rice cereal and she seemed to love it.

Alice is actually sleeping the legal way...on her back!! And she did it all by herself. Wow.

Master Bathroom

Before
You have to click on the picture to see the wallpaper.

After

So the wallpaper design wasn't horrible, but the way they put it up was. They overlapped the seems which of course started to curl back because it's a humid bathroom without a fan. So, I scraped it all off (which was a nightmare) and repainted. I also spray painted the cabinet knobs and medicine cabinet...and put up a new cheap-Wal-Mart-but-better-than-what-was-there) light fixture. Speaking of spray paint...I'm now addicted to the Krylon spray paint. I daydream about finding new things to spray paint. For $3 a can it's a cheap way to makeover things.

This is what I found when I removed the medicine cabinet to paint it. A pile of razorblades. Weird. My only guess is that they used them as a shim? I didn't touch them...put the cabinet back right on top.

And like the rest of the house I still need to hang some art, or candle holders, or shelves or both.

I finally hung some family pictures in our front hallway. They sat in a closet for a year.
