Playing is hard work

Lucius James Dinzeo

"My middle name is your son" What?
"Maybe tomorrow when you are a little boy you can do it too"
"I just joking Mommy"
"It's a bootiful day Mommy"

While watching the Max & Ruby candy apples episode:
Lu: Mommy, you like candy apples?
Me: Yes
Lu: Tomorrow we plant seeds and grow candy apple tree. Then we pick dem to eat after dinner. Dat sound like good?
Me: Sure!
Lu: We go to seed candy apple store.

Lu: Poopy!
Me: Lucius, you're not supposed to say that word.
Lu: I just saying it to myself. (He's getting the concept that you're not supposed to call people names. He also claims that sometimes he says poopy in his dreams. But I'm pretty sure it's just an excuse to actually say poopy.)

Lu's also working on the concept of relationships. He's a boy and my son. Alice is a girl and my daughter etc... "When I grow up and am a dolt (adult) I will be a daddy too. Then you will have two daddies." "When Alice grows up she'll be a big boy and you will have two boys".

He knows his full name and street address. And he finally learned that Lucius starts with an L and can recognize the letter. I don't know how many times I tried to teach him that yet he goes to daycare for a day and is able to learn it. I guess it's cooler to learn at daycare.

Lazy Saturday

My big boy.

New hair cut.

We made a cast of Alice's hand. It came out surprisingly well.
I'm sure that Alice would love to suck on it.

"Hi Alice!"

"Tickle tickle!"

I have a very hard time getting a picture of her beautiful smile.

Super Baby!!!!

If you couldn't figure it out I have her laying on my shins and taking the picture from between my legs. Photography is hard.

Drooly girl. I'm getting used to having wet shoulders and drool running down my arms.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a nice relaxing Father's Day. I hope that Tom enjoyed it! He got about 9 hours of sleep, some breakfast, presents, time to do nothing, and Fudrucker's for dinner.

Trust me. We TRIED to get more pictures of Lucius. He wasn't interested...and he's too fast to capture. This was a cute picture except for the overexposure.

OK, Alice looks nothing like me. And I need a haircut BADLY.

3-months already!

For some reason I keep telling everyone that Alice is 3-months-old. And then I think, "wow, I can't believe it's been 3 months already!". It's hard to believe because it hasn't actually been 3 months yet. That just occurred to me this afternoon.

Anyhow...remember that nice schedule that Alice was on for three days? Well, it lasted 3 days...then she was miss grumpy pants. Refusing a bottle, yet again. Holding a grudge against Daddy etc.... She ate every 2 hours today. I'm guessing it's her 3 month growth spurt. Oh wait! She's not 3 months yet...

For the past few days her last feeding is at 6:30p which means she wakes up at 3a to eat again. She will not eat before 8pm bedtime no matter how hard I try. So, I've decided to start waking her at 10:30p to feed. I did that last night and she slept until 4a, ate, slept until 7:25a -- just put her nuk back in -- and she finally woke up at 8:30a. We'll see what happens tonight.

Oh, we had lobster for dinner. Yum.

Getting ready.

Here it is!

Lucius took one bite, spit it out, and said "I don't like dis."
All right by me! I'm sure we can find someone to eat your lobster.

Look at all of those toys. And what does he choose to play with? The baby toys.

This is what Alice is usually doing. "Do dee do".

The house

There's so much that I want to do to this house! If only I could find the time.

Here's some beautiful artwork that Auntie Daniela made just for Alice.

shhhhh, she's sleeping.
You can see that her head is growing faster than her hair. She has that bald stripe around her entire head.

Tom got a glider/ottoman at the second hand store and I finally got around to covering it. The cushions were pretty nasty before. I considered painting it white too...however, I knew I'd never get around to it. Maybe someday!

Cushion before

After

Just chillin'

You know that spring is here when you find these under your plants.

It's hard to hate the bunnies when they're so darn cute. If only they left our garden alone!

Dinner time!

If you look closely you can see one of the bunnies is on his back, spread eagle. Cracks me up every time.

Sleep tracking

6/21/09

Ok, so the schedule has changed.

6:30p - last feeding, she will NOT eat again before she goes to sleep
8p - bedtime
10:30p - I wake her up to feed her before I go to bed
5:30a - she woke up to eat and went back to sleep
8:20a - she tried to wake up, but no luck
9a - she's still asleep...the girl is just not a morning person.

6/15/09

8pm - bed
2a - crying, I stuck her pacifier back in and she went back to sleep
5a - woke up and ate, diaper change

When I went into her room I saw two little feet sticking straight up. Of course, in my half-asleep-no-glasses-wearing-daze it took me a few seconds to figure out what they were. I peered over the side of her crib to see Alice staring up at me. Girlfriend somehow rolled over from her belly to her back. I guess that's considered her first rollover? Not sure how she managed to do it.

6a - back to sleep in our bed. It's 7:30a and I think I hear some stirrings. She has a tough time getting up in the mornings. Just like her Mommy.

6/14/09

8:30p - bed time
2a- heard her cry over the monitor for less than a minute then fell back to sleep
4a - crying very loudly, definitely hungry -- ate and then back to sleep
8a - woke up, ate and fell back asleep around 9a
12:30p - ate
4p - ate

Miss Alice

It seems like Alice's schedule changed over night. She went from eating every two hours to eating every 4-5 hours. What a big difference that makes. She actually slept in her crib from 8:30p-8:00a. She did wake up at 4:30am to eat, but luckily she went right back to sleep. I think the trick may have something to do with keeping the monitor on low...I only wake up to hear the screaming. Maybe that makes me a horrible Mom, but at least I'm a well rested horrible Mom!

If only Lu would sleep past 6:30am...

Just for the record...Alice ate at 8am, 12p, 4p...I'm assuming she'll eat again at 8pm and then go to sleep. Here's hoping to another good night!

June Visits

So I totally thought that I blogged about Ellen and Matthew's visit until I realized that I only put it on facebook. Sorry! Don't feel slighted Ellen!

Anyway, last Sunday Ellen, Matthew, and StellaH (Boston accent added) stopped by for dinner. And to see us, of course.

It was great to see them.

Blake came by for a visit last night and I didn't get any pictures!!! Can you believe it? Sorry, Blake. Remind me to take some next time. It was great hanging out with you though!

Look alikes?

The neighbors keep saying that Alice looks exactly like Lucius. I'm not sure that I see it. Of course, they only know Lucius as a 3-year-old.

Here's some pictures of Lu at 2 months. What do you think?

Anyone remember this picture? I posted it because I can see a resemblance here.

Old pictures

A friend sent me some pictures when Alice was about 3 weeks old (thanks Bonnie!).

Chillin' at the dept. picnic.

Alice's first boyfriend?

She's not sure what to think about it. Gabe was quite interested though. Grrrrrrr....
